MAN 9 ASL 25/30 Crankshaft Repair/in situ Crankshaft Grinding RA Power Solutions

RA Power Solutions was informed by one of our client regarding failure of Crankpin no. 6 of AE#2 of MAN  9 ASL 25/30 Model Engine.  The Engine details are as following:   S. NO  Crankshaft Details   1  Engine Make MAN 2 Engine Model 9 ASL 25/30 3 Crank pin Diameter Standard 195 mm 4 Crankpin Bearing Width 77 mm   Our technicians boarded the vessel at Mumbai port and performed an evaluation of the crankshaft.  Following were the main observations: Inspection & observation of MAN 9 ASL 25/30 crankshaft of engine no. 2 crank pin no. 6: i) During the visual inspection of crankpin  it was observed that the crank pin bearing got melted and was badly embadded on the crankpin.  ii) The crankpin bearing was removed and was found badly damaged. It was a serious accident as the bearing was burnt which

We speialise in grinding and polishing of crankshaft journal insitu and onsite up to 700 mm in terms of diameter. We have experience of more than forty years in executing successfully repair of crankshaft journals onsite without removing the crankshaft from the engine block. The crankshaft journal repair services are offered all over the world in a short notice and it is possible because all our technicians & supervisors hold valid Indian CDC.   Successful Repair of Crankshaft with damaged Radius fillet due to accident. It is observed that the leading companies in the world are not able to undertake the grinding of journals in case the radius fillet of the crank pin or main journal of the crankshaft is damaged. Their grinding tool is mounted on the radius fillet and all the references for grinding and polishing are taken from the fillet radius.  In case of damage to the radius fillet it is not possible for them to use their outdated grinding equipment. They always insist for first

Discussion on Metal Stitching, Metal Locking and Metal Surgery

Metal Stitching  is a proven process of doing permanent repairs to machine parts or it is a method of repairing castings without use of heat.  This method is a technologically advanced process utilized on cast iron components such as engine block, turbo casing, gear box etc.  As no heat is generated in this technique thus, it is used in areas where welding is banned. The metal stitching process was developed in the late 1930s. The notable point of this process is that it provides a long-term repair for the heavy engineering components which are damaged or develop cracks due to serious accident.  It is performed using a proper series of steps to give the better outcome. Advantages: ·          On-site repair. ·          Takes less time for repair. ·          Excellent process to be followed in this modern world for engine block and heavy cast iron component repair. ·          A cold process. The process known as  Metal Locking  is done onsite. This includes s
