How are White Metal bearings manufactured?

Manufacturing process of White Metal Bearing

 

a) We manufacture new bearings according to the drawing furnished by the client. In certain cases, the drawing of white metal is not available in that case the bearings are developed & manufactured as per the sample of white metal bearing provided by the company. 

 

b) Heavy babitt white metal bearing which is difficult to transport and remove from the main equipment we depute our CAD-CAM engineer along with experienced technicians with the latest breed of measuring instruments to visit the plant and prepare the drawing on the spot.We have successfully executed nos of projects right from measurement of old bearing to the execution. 

 

c) The facility of deputing our team of technicians including CAD-CAM engineer is very much appreciated all over the world. We can depute our team in a short notice. 

 

d) The babbitt white metal bearings are manufactured by centrifugal process which ensures a strong and uniform bonding between the babbitt white metal & bearing shell.

 

e) The machining of bearings on the CNC ensures the maintenance of dimensions strictly as per the drawing or a sample.  

 

Rebabbitting & Repair of old and damaged babbitt white metal bearing

 

It is important that proper procedure for rebabbitting and repair of old damaged Babbitt White Metal Bearing is followed. 

 

We undertake repairs and following protocol is strictly followed:

 

a) Removal of babbitt white metal from the damaged old babbitt white metal bearing is undertaken within a controlled temperature. 

 

b) The old babbitt white metal removed from the bearing is subject to metallurgical testing. 

 

c) The naked steel bearing shell is sand blasted. Steel shells are subject to crack detection by MPI procedure.

 

d) We also undertake a dye penetrant test if required no cracks or abnormality in the steel bearing shell is accepted.

 

e) The steel bearing shell is also subject to hardness check.

 

f) In case due to burning of bearing higher hardness is observed, the bearing shell is rejected, and new bearing is recommended. 

 

g) We have generally observed higher hardness in a scattered area which is removed by scooping technology to save the babbitt bearing from rejection.  

 

h) The bearing is checked for distortion and loss of profile. 

 

i) The babbitt white metal is selected always one grade higher in order to give the bearing a longer life.

 

j)The rebabbitting of babbitt white metal is undertaken using a centrifugal process.

 

k) Machining & all the dimensions are maintained as per the drawing or sample provided to us.
